Welcome to another Talent Thursday blog with a very creative artist from Marocco. I don't remember how we connected, but i happened. It's very cool to talk with people from abroad. I have never been to Marocco, but i know that the people there make beautifull art work, so does Aïman. I visited his Instagram page, where you can see some of his work and also his shop in Marocco.
We talked about doing business together, and it is manifasting. On the 10th of May there is a 'Grensmarkt', that means 'Boardermarket' in Dinxperlo on 'Hemelvaartsdag'. I want to have a marketstand to sell some products. I remember back in the days, when i was a kid, we stood there with my parents and sister. We sold all the stuff from our garage and left-overs and my parents gave us some money to spend at the fair. We had a good youth.
I want to create a section for creative people, who make beautifull and unique art. Aïman and I talked about the shipping opportunities, it's not that expensive. 1 kg costs about 20 dollar to ship. He's making a list of products with prizes. We make a contract, that the products will be send back, or if i have money i will buy it from him so sell in the Netherlands. Äiman is not the only artist who put in work, another artist from the USA is sending some cool cards for the section, and there is also some space for Dutch artists like Sanne de Leeuw. I have some close friends who are also very creative. They can make really nice wooden furniture. So this month we are busy with designing and making some products to. If you need inspiration for yourself to create furniture, take a look at our instagram: thriftartshop_puddifoots.
What's your name, how old are you and where do you live?
My name is aïmen, ayman. I am 20 years old from safi Morocco.
I was browsing through you Instagram channel. I love the ceramic pieces you make. Is it hand made? Do you make that on your own, or do you have family or friends helping you?
These ceramic pieces are hand maded. And i am not alone in this work. I am with 2 friends. I am the one who draw on the pieces, Zakaria and Ahmad made the pieces.
I heard about this ceramic artwork from Marocco before, is that a tradition to make or something typical from Marocco?
This is the question that i was waiting for. Well in Morocco, especially in SAFI, ceramic art is a culture, a history. Safi is a very old city. Let me describe to you my city, there is a traditional place called the old city. Next to it there is a clay hill called 'Ceramic Hill' where ceramic workshops placed. So if you visit the old city you have to visit ceramic hill too. And if you dont, you didnt see nothing. I was born in the old city of safi, so as all the kids, i was spending my free time on cermic workshop learnin how to cock the clay, made the shape or draw on it. I was see love in master craftsmen when they teach us. I can say that ceramic made is more than tradition, it is a lifestyle
Have you been to school, or are you still studying?
I am a student. I study engineering, and i will specialize in air traffic control. But i cant give up on ceramic too. I like make crafts, and ceramic is the very close to me. My other 2 friends work on ceramics.
I'm finishing my webshop as soon as possible. I would love to place some of your ceramic work in the shop. I would love to try to sell it in Holland to, if you like?
Its my pleasure to place my poroducts in your shop. I would be happy to do that
What are your dreams?
I really want to start my own business, Make it larger and international, this is what i called it professional dream, i have a personal dream, lets share it with you, i am a collector i like collect antiques and pieces of art, I want to make an open cave for art lovers. I want them to came and see my future beautiful collection.
Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years from now?
I see myself a business man with my own company.
We have planned a trip to Ecolonie in May, the exact date is 11th may, one day after the 'Boardermarket'. So if we make som money there, we want to buy some local French products. There is a special herbal garden with plants and they make very delicious tea. We are buying them for our shop. They have also some great oils and gemstones, maybe we take some of that back to Holland to.
See you guys next Thursday. I tink that blog will be about a great guy who makes very beautifull pictures off the moon, nature and much more! Stay Tuned
